New Fire Mecca LED Hoops and the Design Process

So, the Fire Mecca LED Hoop has finally arrived, after a few months of designing from scratch and prototyping with Kim. The design process is really satisfying for me, and, being an electrical engineer by education, being able to bring some of that knowledge to this field is a great feeling.

For me, inventing and designing are definitely "sexy stuff", as a colleague once phrased it. While figuring out commercial viability and market entry and such are all very practically important, starting with a fairly unrestrained idea and designing it into the real world allows me to express my creative side. In the field of electronics, not many people think about the art of what is inside the packaging and how it got there.
