The Isis heads are about 5" and slightly less wide. Soaked, they are a lot less heavy than even the 4" moonblaze heads, but for that, they hold a lot less fuel.

I used the isis heads here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7cyjkHtbuSw&feature=channel_page

I'm the one lit at the beginning. Notice that at about 3:00, they start to putter out whereas everyone else's 3" moonblaze heads are still going strong. I did start being lit off stage before everyone else though. With the 4" or 5" moonblaze heads, I don't have that problem.

Allen,

Thanks for the write-up. Your choreography looks great, by the way. Are you in the 2009 Expo? Mind if we put the video up here at the site, too?

I found what may be the perfect side-by-side comparison of Isis vs Moonblaze wicks ever:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=07z-MG6XBdE
Nevisoul with Isis, followed by Alien Jon with (unless he suddenly changed wicks and I don't think he did) Moonblazes.
[my most sincere apologies to either or both of them if I've made an error in my observations]
And, of course, my opinions are of two world-class spinners both at the top of their respective games (which I am pointing out to avoid the obvious "well duh it looks good, these guys are awesome" response).

The Isis poi are visibly lighter, making the spiral wraps elegant and smooth without sacrificing flame size. You can also see the (comparative) lack of "tug" both when Nevisoul is performing flowers and when he is changing speeds half-way though his routine.

When Alien Jon comes on, one can see the difference in flame intensity - the fire is noticeably thicker/denser. That said, the weight trade-off is also apparent, especially when Jon starts speeding up and chokes up on the chains (starting around 4:10). It's not a strength issue, as Jon is never shaky, but you can see how his center of gravity has to adjust in order to maintain balance.

I personally have been enjoying the greater weight with my 4" moonblaze heads, as I am able to be (comparing only to my own experiences with other heads) more precise with stalls, pendulums, and plane-shifting. I also have a more deliberate, grounded style, which lets me enjoy the greater force needed to control the moonblazes.

The look of the flame, however, is still a toss-up, as the Isis heads have a more organic, fiery look, as opposed to the moonblazes that, much like their celestial namesake, look much more like a sun going supernova.

I would also like to add that, with the recent addition of pop-rivets, the life of my old moonblaze heads has been extended considerably, and will probably last at least another summer!
If anybody who uses Isis heads has a life-span comparison, it would be great to know about.
